Ludovica Chiavaccini graduated from University of Pisa (Italy) in 2003. After several years practicing as an equine veterinarian, she completed a Master degree in Veterinary Sciences (2010) at Colorado State University and a residency in anesthesia and analgesia (2014) at Mississippi State University. In 2015 she obtained the status of diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia (ACVAA).

From 2015-2016, Ludovica has been a clinical instructor at the University of California-Davis Veterinary Teaching Hospital before accepting a position of Assistant Professor in Clinical Anesthesia at the School of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Pennsylvania in 2016. After leaving the University of Pennsylvania in winter of 2018, she has been a consultant in veterinary anesthesia and analgesia for a VCA hospital in San Francisco, CA. In January 2019, she will join the anesthesia team at North Carolina State University. Her research interests focus on novel techniques of loco-regional anesthesia and the understanding of pain mechanisms in animals.
