Course Overview

The objectives of this course are to provide participants with a basic knowledge of ultrasound image formation and current technology, and to perform routine abdominal ultrasonographic examination in dogs and cats.

  • General principles of abdominal US examination
  • Liver Spleen and lymph nodes
  • Kidneys
  • Female genital tract
  • Urinary bladder, male genital tract
  • GIT, Pancreas and Adrenal glands
  • Introduction to US guided biopsies and aspiration
  • Doppler principles
  • Abdominal vascular anatomy

Day 1

11:30-13:00 The US of the liver, from normal to abnormal

Day 2

10:30-11:15 The abdominal lymph nodes: how to find and interpret them

(All practical sessions will be conducted with live beagle dogs. On day 3, cadavers will also be used for lab sessions)
